This easy French Toast recipe is crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and ready in just 15 minutes with simple pantry ingredients. Perfect for a comforting breakfast or brunch, topped with maple syrup, fresh fruit, or powdered sugar.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices brioche or thick white bread
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  • Make the Custard – Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  • Dip the Bread – Coat each slice in the mixture for about 15 seconds per side.
  • Cook – Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the bread for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Serve – Top with maple syrup, fresh berries, bananas, or powdered sugar.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for the best texture.
  • Cook over medium heat to avoid burning.
  • Brioche or challah gives the richest flavor.
  • Refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze up to 2 months; reheat in a skillet or oven.
